Akfor en Omar
In 1988, the current director of Akomar, Arjan Kruis, started a sea freight company; Akfor Shipping & Distribution. A merger with the forwarding company Omar Shipping in 1995 created Akomar Shipping. In the first years, Akomar mainly did chemicals and Ro-Ro. Nowadays, our services are broader in terms of scope.
Deliberate brake on growth
At the time of the merger in the mid-1990s, the company had eight employees. There could have been more, but Akomar has always deliberately kept the brakes on growth. That way we can remain flexible and give every customer 100 percent attention. And that is much more important to us than a turnover with one more digit.
Medium-sized international player
Today Akomar is a medium-sized international player in the field of forwarding and shipping. Our customer base is very broad. Most of them are small and medium-sized companies, although we also work for multinationals. The doors of our office in Ridderkerk are open to everyone, including individuals.
