Over 20 years of reliable collaboration

As the third generation of family-owned Mestebeld Trucks, active since 1937, Richard speaks enthusiastically about the longstanding partnership with Akomar. This collaboration now stretches back over 20 years. “We started in Zwolle and are now operating from Lemelerveld. My cousin and I run the company, and I’m responsible for sales and day-to-day operations.”

The first introduction to Akomar came through Hennie and Thaida, and since then, the company has remained loyal to this partnership. Richard shares, “We've been working together for so long that I can hardly remember a time without them. The partnership has been solid from the start. What I appreciate the most are the short communication lines. Whether it's a container shipment or RORO, you always have a dedicated contact. You can call, email, or message anytime – and if something goes wrong, it’s quickly resolved.”

Relief and flexibility

Mestebeld Trucks specializes in selling used trucks and parts, primarily for export, with Ghana as the main destination. Akomar handles all logistics outside Europe, from RORO to container shipments. “The most important thing is that all the paperwork is in order. Whether we’re exporting a truck or shipping parts, Akomar handles everything,” explains Richard. “If something goes wrong, they’re always there to fix it. That gives us real peace of mind.”

A reliable partner in a changing market

The logistics market in which Richard operates is constantly evolving. “One year it’s all about complete trucks, and the next, due to price increases or changing regulations in different countries, we might shift towards more parts,” says Richard. “Akomar ensures smooth shipments. They even helped us once when a shipment was stolen from the port, even though it wasn’t their fault.”

Looking ahead

After more than two decades of working together, Richard is convinced that Akomar will remain the right partner. “Sure, there are always companies that may be cheaper, but for us, it’s all about reliability and trust. If something happens, we know Akomar will handle it quickly and efficiently. That’s what matters most to us.”
