Since the end of 2025, Richelle has been part of Akomar’s export department. Together with her colleague Cynthia, who has been with the company for over thirty years, she mainly handles shipments to the Middle East — a dynamic market where flexibility, quick decision-making, and personal contact are essential. And according to Richelle, that is exactly what makes the job so rewarding.
“Due to the high level of competition in our industry, we constantly have to stay sharp and adapt quickly,” Richelle explains. “No two days are ever the same, and that’s exactly what makes the work so enjoyable.”
Within the export department, everything revolves around finding the right logistical solution for each customer. That requires flexibility, fast communication, and a personal approach. From long-standing clients to companies booking transport for the very first time — everyone receives the same level of attention and service.
“We work with a wide variety of customers,” Richelle says. “Especially when someone has never worked with us before, we want them to experience the same level of service as if we’ve been working together for years.”
Personal contact plays a major role in that approach. Customers have a dedicated point of contact at Akomar and can rely on quick communication and genuine involvement throughout the process. Even outside regular office hours, the team is there when needed.
“Customers should always feel like they can reach out to us. That personal connection really makes the difference.”
What stood out to Richelle from the moment she joined Akomar was the way people are treated within the company. It’s not just about experience or performance — it’s about the person behind the role.
“To me, Akomar feels like a very human company,” she explains. “They don’t just look at what you can do, but especially at who you are as a person and where your strengths lie.”
According to Richelle, that mindset is far from standard in today’s workplace culture. It creates an environment where people feel valued and are able to bring out the best in themselves.
The strong sense of teamwork also plays an important role. “Everyone is equal here. We help each other and truly work together as a team. You can feel that internally, but our customers notice it too.”
Over the years, Richelle worked for several different employers while trying to find a place where she truly felt comfortable. That changed when she joined Akomar.
“For the first time in 13 years, work no longer feels like work to me,” she says. “And to me, that says everything about the people, the atmosphere, and the trust within Akomar.”
That combination of freedom, teamwork, and personal connection is what makes her genuinely enjoy coming to work every day.
